What is Harvey?

You cannot sign up for this one. Harvey sells annual enterprise contracts to firms and in-house teams, with seat minimums and no self-serve tier, so an individual lawyer gets access only if their employer buys it. Harvey said in March 2026 that more than 100,000 lawyers across 1,300 organizations use it, including much of the Am Law 100. If you are job-hunting in legal, the practical move is asking in interviews which legal AI the team runs and who is allowed to touch it.

Three things Harvey does best

1. Reads a whole deal room at once

   Vault stores and bulk-analyzes large document sets, so you can ask one question across thousands of contracts in a data room and get per-document answers with citations back to the source. That is the due-diligence and review work that used to be staffed with junior associates.

2. Built for legal sources, not the open web

   Knowledge answers legal, regulatory and tax questions against curated legal sources rather than general web search, and Harvey has an alliance with LexisNexis for primary law. Answers carry citations you are still expected to verify — the tool speeds up the first draft, it does not remove the duty to check.

3. Firms build their own repeatable workflows

   Harvey's Agents run multi-step legal tasks end to end, and firms build custom ones around their own precedents and house style; Harvey reported over 25,000 custom agents on the platform in March 2026. Spaces let teams share these across organizations, and Command Center shows leadership who is actually using it.
